Hapless Labor a train wreck

Labor was a train wreck when it came to RailCorp, Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian said today.

"Labor sat on its hands while RailCorp became more inefficient and less customer-friendly and has no credibility on public transport," Ms Berejiklian said.

"I make no apologies for my determination to reform RailCorp which is costing $10 million a day. We will have a more efficient, customer-focused organisation when this reform is implemented and that is good news for taxpayers and travellers.

"We are a government focused on improving customer service, unlike Labor which slashed 400 daily rail services.

"We have already brought in an extra 60 weekly rail services and are committed to expanding and improving services.

"I am open and upfront about the size of the task we face in reforming RailCorp.

"As I have said, I am not ruling anything in or out. We are at the start of an intensive process which will give us a more efficient railway with better and more frequent services.

"I am confident it will also result in a workplace culture which will mean greater job satisfaction."

Ms Berejiklian said Labor was clueless and had created confusion in the RailCorp workforce.

"When Nathan Rees was Premier he said: 'Inflexible work practices at RailCorp mean something as simple as getting a light bulb changed has led to delays, and even caused services to be cancelled'.

"Yesterday Labor's latest leader John Robertson said: 'RailCorp is an organisation that delivers services to the people of the city and delivers them effectively'.

"Labor doesn't know what it wants, it doesn't know what it thinks, and it didn't know what to do.

"That is why Labor was dumped last year and why we are getting on with the job of improving our public transport system."
